The most formidable competitor for EU wines is Australia. It enjoys a Free Trade Agreement. We Bulgaria are part of EU and enjoy 48.9% taxes. This is because of FV war of Germany with China. Not only that. The country produces wines across all price tranches, varietals, and categories. It is about to enter in the segment of bulk wines too.The shift to bottling the wines in China, will be remarkable. The reason for that have nothing to do with the wine but with with seizing the benefits of starting bottling plants and thus declare a business scope within the supply chain.
The problem with the import of Bulgarian Wines is that Bulgaria is totaly unknown country in China and we are not making any advertising. The second is the bad condition of the tourism industry with China. No tourist from China and this is No advertising too.
I hope after opening of 15 new Visa Centers in China this will be changed. I don’t belive we will have financial support or advertising of Bulgarian Touristic product to Chinese market from the Ministry of Tourism will happend this year or even next year as last 10 years so we continue our project to do it ourselve with the support of the Business and all the turistic related municipalities.
