Sofia is in the top 20 in the fastest housing appreciation in the world

Residential real estate prices in the capital rose 9.6% in the second quarter, according to a consulting company

Sofia is ranked 19th in the world and ninth in Europe in terms of rising house prices, according to the index of consulting firm Knight Frank for the second quarter.

Between April and June, home prices in the capital rose 9.6% year-on-year, according to the company. This puts Sofia after Utrecht in the Netherlands and before the French city of Lyon in the Knight Frank ranking, which includes 150 cities in the world.

Overall, housing prices in the cities surveyed rose by an average of 3.5% in the second quarter of the year. The fastest growing housing market in the world was the Chinese city of Xi’an, where home prices rose 25.1%. The top ten are from Budapest (24.2%), Hyderabad (18.3%), Ahmedabad (15.3%), Wuhan (14.6%), St. Petersburg (14.6%), Porto (13.6) %), Chongqing (12.1%), Zagreb (11.4%) and Athens (11.2%).
