With 239 passengers onboard, the debut flight linking East China’s Shanghai and Dublin, capital city of Ireland, took off from the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Monday, marking the official launch of the direct flight between the two cities by China Eastern Airlines.
The new flight between Shanghai and Dublin is scheduled to depart Shanghai every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and return from Dublin later the same day. Each one-way flight is expected to fly about 13 hours on average.
Cargo transporting at the belly of the aircraft becomes available along with the launch of the passenger flight, which provides a logistical channel for high value-added products, including biomedicine, high-tech products, and fresh produce. Outbound shipments from Shanghai will be primarily e-commerce goods, while return cargo from Dublin focuses on temperature-controlled products such as pharmaceuticals and fresh produce, precisely aligning with local industrial export demands.
As the capital of Ireland, Dublin serves as the nation’s political, economic, and cultural hub. The city boasts a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, while also attracting numerous multinational technology and financial corporations. The introduction of regular passenger flights will further facilitate economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
