Artificial intelligence (AI) agents are being widely regarded as the next frontier in AI development following the rapid development of large language models (LLMs). Unlike LLMs – which primarily respond to user prompts – AI agents are capable of perceiving their environment, planning and executing tasks, using external tools and continuously improving through iterative learning.
As the capabilities of individual agents continue to evolve, enabling efficient collaboration among multiple agents has become an important area of innovation.
To advance collaborative innovation in AI agent development, the World Internet Conference (WIC) will host the Forum on Collaborative Innovation and Development of AI Agents on July 22 in Xi’an, capital of Northwest China’s Shaanxi province, as part of the 2026 WIC Digital Silk Road Development Forum.
Under the theme Driven by Innovation, Powered by Collaboration: Building an Open and Shared Ecosystem for AI Agent Development, the AI agents forum aims to foster consensus, strengthen collaboration and promote the development of the Digital Silk Road and the intelligent transformation of industries.
During the event, representatives from government agencies, industry, academia and research institutions from around the world will exchange views on three key topics: building solid foundations for development: from technological breakthrough to standards alignment; ensuring security: from risk prevention to multi-stakeholder governance; unlocking industrial value: from scenario exploration to ecosystem co-creation.
Co-organized by the Industry and Information Technology Department of Shaanxi Province and the Shaanxi Provincial Internet Information Office, the forum will explore new opportunities for collaborative innovation in AI agents and contribute to building an open and shared ecosystem for AI agent development.
