China Changan Automobile Group is showcasing its expanding technological ecosystem at the ongoing Auto Shanghai 2025, signaling a shift from traditional manufacturing toward becoming a vertically integrated innovation-driven technology group.
The company unveiled 88 products on Wednesday across key components including intelligent chassis, powertrains, thermal management systems, and vehicle electronics, underlining its ambition to play a leading role in the global smart mobility transition.
China Changan introduced two cornerstone platforms: a next-generation integrated intelligent chassis and the GI-Drive 2.0 electric drive system.
The latter, developed by its subsidiary Chongqing Qingshan, integrates six layers of proprietary technology architecture, encompassing 293 patents and 119 core innovations.
The system supports both hybrid and fully electric configurations and features distributed drive with torque vectoring and adaptive control — capabilities increasingly critical to next-gen electric vehicles.
Chenzhen Technology, China Changan’s chassis subsidiary, unveiled a full-stack smart chassis solution including steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and electromagnetic suspension technologies.
Designed for modular deployment and multi-powertrain compatibility, the platform reflects China’s broader push to gain ground in core EV component manufacturing.
The group’s portfolio highlights a maturing supply chain. Subsidiaries such as Eastan Power and Huachuan Electric are ramping up production of high-efficiency range-extender engines, next-gen hybrid systems, and deeply integrated electric drive units.
In thermal management, innovations from South China InterTech and Changan’s Research Institute target EV range anxiety through modular heat control platforms and advanced HVAC systems.
China Changan is also investing heavily in intelligent logistics through Minsheng Logistics, which presented its smart warehousing and automated delivery technologies at the show.
These systems, including proprietary digital platforms and autonomous transport units, support China Changan’s transition to a more flexible and data-driven production model.
The exhibition underscores China Changan’s pivot to what it calls its “second wave of entrepreneurship” — a strategy centered on high-value innovation, digital transformation, and decarbonization.
It reflects a broader trend among Chinese automakers: building resilience in supply chains, securing intellectual property in key technologies, and exploring overseas market expansion.
As global automakers adjust to surging demand for electrification and autonomy, China Changan’s vertically integrated model and push into foundational technologies position it as a player to watch in the evolving automotive landscape.
