Qingdao, in Shandong province, attracts tourists all year round with its picturesque sea views, architecture, and beach activities — such as barbecuing, swimming, surfing, and boating. But the famous coastal resort city also plays a key role in advancing China’s high-quality maritime economy along its eastern coastline.

Design for the Ocean Development Strategy, an ongoing exhibition in Qingdao presented by Shandong University of Art and Design, demonstrates how the school has integrated national and provincial marine development strategies into its curriculum.

Featuring over 266 works, the exhibition focuses on the school’s progress in promoting the integration of artistic design with cutting-edge technologies and marine industries. The exhibits include marine equipment, fashion, film and cultural creativity, dual-carbon development, fisheries, and biotechnology.

Running until Oct 15, the exhibition offers teenagers and their families the chance to see the university’s educational strengths and research achievements in the maritime industry.
