In 2025, the EU exported 3.2 bn litres of beer containing alcohol to countries outside the EU, a decline of 11% compared with 2024, while importing 0.5 bn litres, an increase of 6%.
Belgium was the top exporter of beer among EU countries with a total of 1.5 bn litres (intra- and extra-EU). The Netherlands came second (1.4 bn litres), followed by Germany (1.3 bn litres), Czechia and Ireland (both exporting 0.6 bn litres).
For imports, France was the largest importer of beer containing alcohol in 2025, with 0.9 bn litres. The other big importers were Italy with more than 0.7 bn litres, followed by Germany and Spain, each with 0.6 bn litres, and the Netherlands with 0.3 bn litres.
