Robot dogs are transitioning from novelty gadgets into practical household companions, offering a glimpse into the future of artificial intelligence-driven smart living. That was a key message from an industry expert speaking at the “Vibrant China” media tour in Changzhou city, East China’s Jiangsu province, on July 20.
Sun Lixiao, vice-president of Nanjing Weilan Intelligent Technology Co, told China Daily that these quadrupedal robots are best understood as “smartphones on four legs” — intelligent mobile platforms capable of autonomous navigation within domestic environments.
According to Sun, the home-oriented robots are engineered to serve multiple functions, including emotional companionship, interactive education and entertainment, as well as home security and monitoring.
As robotics and artificial intelligence continue to advance, enabling stronger perception, smarter decision-making, and increased affordability, embodied intelligent robots are expected to become a common fixture of everyday life, Sun added.
